Robin is the oldest child of Closti the Clam, and the one on whose shoulders most of the responsibility falls when he and her brother Gull are taken away to fight in the King's army against the Heathen. Robin is pretty, kind, hardworking, and very practical. She seems to be the only member of the family to still remember their mother, who was lost when they were all still children.
Robin learned from their mother how to weave, and in turn taught her sister Tanaqui to do so also, although Tanaqui's skills far surpassed those of her sister. Robin is more easily frightened than her siblings, and their whole journey down to the mouth of the Great River terrifies her. By the end of it, however, her beauty has attracted several very distinguished suitors, and things seem to be going better for her at last.
