In The Pinhoe Egg, Lester Pinhoe is one of the brothers of Gammer Pinhoe, which makes him the great-uncle of protagonist Marianne Pinhoe.

Great-Uncle Lester is the lawyer in the family.  He's described as wearing a black coat and striped trousers in order to look the part.  He drives a big shiny motor car which he tries to use to run over people he's having an argument with.

It turns out that his sister Gammer Pinhoe is still mad at him for smashing her dollhouse sixty years ago, when he was five.

Personal Flaws[]

He is fussy and dismissive of the youngsters, and, with his brother Edgar Pinhoe, very possessive when it comes to family traditions or possessions. When the story begins, and Gammer Pinhoe seems to lose her mind, he is insistent that the house, if it is to be sold, be sold to a Pinhoe or not at all.

During the confrontation in the village square, after the big fight between Pinhoes and Farleighs, Chrestomanci uses the magical persuasive tool called Performative Speech to get people to tell the truth about things in the past that people had been hiding, and when it came to the great wrong that had been done to Old Gaffer, Lester couldn't even bring himself to talk about it, and made Edgar tell the story.
